Sacramental Preparation (Ages 6-12)
Sacrament Eligibility
Parents are encouraged to enroll their children in sacrament formation at the beginning of 1st grade.
Sacrament preparation sessions build upon one another and attendance is considered mandatory. A child should not miss a session without due cause. If attendance becomes a recurring issue, they may need to wait to receive their Sacraments when all commitment and formation requirements can be fulfilled.
Baptized children ages 7-9 are eligible for First Reconciliation and should register for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level Two. Children must have completed at least one full year of sacrament formation immediately prior to receiving their first Reconciliation.
Baptized children ages 9-12 are eligible for First Reconciliation and should register for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level Three. Children must have completed at least one full year of sacrament formation immediately prior to receiving their first Reconciliation.
Confirmation and First Holy Eucharist (Communion) candidates are eligible if they are in third grade or above, have been baptized and have previously completed their 1st Reconciliation. Candidates should have completed at least one full year of sacrament formation immediately prior to the year they enroll for Confirmation/1st Holy Eucharist prep.
