Sacramental Preparation (Ages 6-12)
Sacrament Eligibility
Parents are encouraged to enroll their children in sacrament formation at the beginning of 1st grade. Children will be assessed to gauge readiness to celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation in second grade.
Sacrament preparation sessions build upon one another and attendance is considered mandatory. A child should not miss a session without due cause. If attendance becomes a recurring issue, they may need to wait to receive their Sacraments when all commitment and formation requirements can be fulfilled.
Baptized children over the age 7 are eligible for First Reconciliation and should register for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level Two. Children must have completed at least one full year of sacrament formation immediately prior to receiving their first Reconciliation.
If your child is in 4th or 5th grade and desires the Sacrament of Reconciliation they should enroll in Family OCI-C. Please contact the Office of Child Faith Formation at childfaith@stgacc.org for details.
Confirmation and First Holy Eucharist (Communion) candidates are eligible if they are at least eight years old, have been baptized and have previously completed preparation for the sacrament of 1st Reconciliation.
If your child is in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade and has not previously attended faith formation please contact, the Office of Child Faith Formation at childfaith@stgacc.org.
