Extraordinary Ministers
Extraordinary Ministers (EM's) help with the distribution of Holy Communion during Mass.
An EM must be at least 16 years old. He or she must also demonstrate by his or her way of life their belief in the Divine Presence of our Lord in the sacred species. This is a very privileged ministry which allows an individual to share his faith with those whom he serves. Special training is provided on an as needed basis but at least once a year and consists of a theological presentation on the aspects of serving as an EM. Additional training on the specific logistics of serving as an EM during Mass is offered for all individuals new to serving as an EM in our parish. St. Gabriel’s is charged with the responsibility of providing annual training for all EM’s.
Scheduling
EM’s are scheduled monthly with the other liturgical ministers, i.e., lectors and altar servers, etc.
