"Since the earliest times, Baptism has been administered to children, for it is a grace and a gift of God that does not presuppose any human merit; children are baptized in the faith of the Church. Entry into Christian life gives access to true freedom. " CCC 1282
Baptisms of children under the age of 7 are celebrated with Deacon Jim Fogle as the celebrant.
Preparation for the parents is required and is mainly led by Deacon Bob Torigian. The preparation is a two-hour session which is held every month on the first Thursday. You are required to attend only one session. After your have attended the preparation session, the parents will meet with Deacon Jim. You should contact the parish office to schedule the date for the celebration of Baptism.
Baptism sponsor(s) (Godparents) must be a fully initiated Roman Catholic, (baptized, confirmed and receiving the Eucharist), and at least sixteen years of age. A baptized non-Catholic may be chosen as a Christian witness provided there is at least one Catholic godparent. St. Gabriel does require a letter in good standing from the sponsor’s parish of registration. This letter must be received no less than two weeks prior to the child’s Baptism.
